Who represents the federal government in a territory?

Part of preparing is knowing the names that apply to you personally. Federally, you should be able to name the Governor General, who represents the Sovereign as head of state, and the Prime Minister, who is head of government. Learn which party is in power. Learn which party forms Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition and who leads it, plus the other opposition parties and their leaders. Know your own MP in Ottawa and the name of your federal electoral district.

The same exercise works closer to home. In a province, the Sovereign is represented by the Lieutenant Governor, and the head of government is the Premier. You should know the provincial party in power, the provincial opposition parties and their leaders, and your own provincial representative. In a territory, a Commissioner represents the federal government and a Premier leads the government. Locally, know the name of your municipality and the name of its mayor or reeve.
