9.4.1 Resource Industries Region by Region

Pictures of the Canadian economy show just how varied it is. In southern Alberta, oil pumpjacks draw energy out of the ground. On the Atlantic coast, lobster is a famous catch of the fishing industry. In Quebec, a hydro-electric dam on the Saguenay River turns river water into electric power. On the highways, lumber trucks haul timber for the forestry industry. Each of these belongs to a different natural resource sector, and each one belongs to a different corner of the country.
