2.2.6 The Three Groups by Size

The three groups are not equal in size. Figures from 2012 show First Nations making up about 65 per cent of Aboriginal people in Canada. The Métis were roughly 30 per cent of the total, and Inuit about 4 per cent. So the large majority are First Nations, the Métis form a substantial second group, and Inuit are the smallest of the three. Keeping these rough shares in mind is an easy way to hold the three groups apart.
