2.3.4 English Canadians

The everyday way of life in English-speaking parts of Canada was set by migrants, soldiers and settlers who came from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. They arrived in their hundreds of thousands, from the 1600s right through to the twentieth century. Pioneers of British background, together with people from other groups, put in money and endured hard conditions while laying the country's foundations. That long history is the reason English speakers in Canada are usually called English Canadians.
