Manufacturing industries make products. Some of those products are sold inside Canada and some are shipped to customers overseas. Canadian factories turn out machinery, automobiles, food and clothing, paper, aerospace technology and high technology equipment, plus many other goods. Because so much of this output is sold abroad, manufacturing depends heavily on trade. The United States is Canada's largest international trading partner, so a great deal of Canadian manufactured output travels south across the border to American buyers.
