10.5.1 The West Coast

British Columbia is the province of the West Coast. People picture its majestic mountains, and they call it Canada's Pacific gateway. The Port of Vancouver is the country's largest and busiest harbour. Billions of dollars of goods pass through it, travelling to and from markets around the world. Warm airstreams blowing in off the Pacific Ocean keep the coast mild, so the weather there is gentler than in most of Canada.
